In general liqueur is a more specific term , refering to sweet alcoholic beverages , often flavoured with fruits , seeds , oils , herbs , spices , flowers and even cream . Liquor is a more general term for all alcoholic beverages made of grains or other plants wich is fermented into a potent drink . Although sugar is used in the fermentation process the result is not sugarey sweet . Liquors are now avalaible in flavoured forms but are not sweet to the palate .
